Test was going perfect all the way through, had 3 minors, and all was running smoothly.
Got the first maneouvre out of the way, reverse parallel park, perfect, carried on driving then he asked me to pull over.
Pulled over then realised i was parked opposite a junction, so moved from this position to a safe position then he asked me to perform the reverse round the corner maneouvre.
Before the test this was probably the maneouvre that i least wanted to come up on my test.
Started reversing after doing all the observations and was putting lock on to left and spotted a police car in rear view mirror, and i think this paniced me so i kept left lock on for too long. Realising that i couldn't get out of the position i was in without mounting the kerb i asked the examiner if it was ok for me to pull forward and correct it, and he gave me no answer and just sat there.
I then got really flustered and paniced more and messed it up on the second attempt, still didnt mount the kerb or perform any dangerous move or anything, pulled back round the corner, knowing i had failed and then did it perfect
Oh well, will try again soon!
Next time i'm just going to block the examiner out. |

At least you will know what to expect next time! I dont think that was very nice of the examiner to ignore you! They're supposed to be friendly!
Im sure you will do it next time _________________ Driving Instructor Sheffield |

yeah my driving instructor came out with me on the test and she pulled him afterwards, not for failing me but for being so unfriendly.
She slated him cause he never once spoke to me during the test nor did he attempt to make me feel at ease when i made the first mistake |

Hi Lynz. Sorry to hear about your driving test experience. Unfortunately it is a common fact that examiners are only human and therefore have days whereby they don't feel talkative or in a particularly friendly mood.
I know that doesn't justify them being nasty with candidates on test but it does happen.
The best thing to do is get your instructor to do a few mock tests with you but not to say a word other than to give you directions.
It can sometimes feel a bit awkward dealing with the silence factor but once you get used to it --its ok.
This style of driving best prepares you for the test and allows you to deal with an examiner who is not willing to talk or make you feel at ease.
If in the event you get an examiner who is talkative, its a bonus and it will feel more like a lesson rather than a test and so make you more likely to relax a bit and cope with whatever happens.
Good luck with the next test and let us know what happens. |

Good advice from Ozzy!
Just remember that if your instructor has put you in for your test then she obviously thinks you are ready. Keep reminding yourself of this throughout your test and dont let the examiner put you off! _________________ Driving Instructor Sheffield |

etting your driver's license is a big step in life, and it can be a necessary tool for getting a job or the key to experiencing the world around you. Preparing for your driving test can seem especially daunting because you have to take everything you've read and actually do it! Thankfully, there are some easy ways to prepare that don't cost a lot and can really improve your chances of success. Here are some ideas for you to consider:
1. Who you will be driving with during practice? Are they someone you respect and can take advice from, or will you get flustered or anxious with them?
2. Practice in a car with an automatic transmission and power steering. Not having to worry about shifting and awkward controls will let you focus on your driving.
3. Find a quiet area without a lot of other traffic when you first start your driving practice, even if it means going a bit out of your way. Starting in a busy area with complicated traffic signals will hurt your confidence!
4. Plan your practice routes with your mentor to ensure you get to experience all of the required traffic signs, maneuvers and traffic patterns.
5. Always bring your driving manual with you on your practice drives so that you can refer to it for any technical details that you can't recall clearly.
6. Before going on a practice drive with your mentor, imagine yourself driving and visualize what you will do in different situations and what it will feel like in the car.
7. Talk to your friends about what their driving test was like, and get a sense of what the examiner was getting them to do and where they felt unprepared.
Applying these tips while you practice will reduce your stress and allow you to focus on learning the skills you need to pass your driving test the first time! _________________ Learner Insurance
