The vehicle safety questions known as “Show Me / Tell Me” that were originally introduced in September 2003 as part of the practical driving test have now been revised as of July 1st 2008 with the addition of new questions covering a wider range of topics.

Combinations of questions originally covering the tyres, brakes, fluid levels, lights, steering and horn. The learner would respond by showing the examiner where the check would take place, and telling the examiner how the check would proceed.

As of 1st July 2008 the show me / tell me test questions will now cover the use of wipers, demisters, brake lights, fog lights, head restraints, ABS warning lights and the correct operation of relevant controls and switches.

The DSA Show me, tell me questions test your knowledge on basic car maintenance and safety. At the start of the practical driving test the show me, tell me questions will begin. The driving test examiner will ask you two questions, one show me question and one tell me question. Answer any of these two questions incorrectly and you will gain one driving test fault. There are 19 different questions, which can be asked, in 18 different combinations. Below you will find all the show me, tell me questions and answers.

That's a direct link, it will open up the questions in your browser.

They're in a utilitarian format as you'd expect coming from the Government.

The show me tell me questions are great for revising, its mostly the tell me questions that this will help you with as the show me questions depend on the type of car you are learning in. For example, the engine coolant is not always in the same place on every car.
