I keep receiving messages in my Private Messages section, warning I have a virus, which is a load of rubbish as my computer is scanned regularly.
Then I am asked to go to a website which I will not add the link here, for them to remove it.
Just thought I would let other users know as they might be getting the same, the people sending these messages are all listed on stop forum spam .com therefore just delete the messages, surely a con. They will want you to part with money to delete a virus that doesn't really exist.
Here is one of the messages that was sent to my inbox.
"There are viruses' activities from your computer! Highly recommend you to scan your computer for malicious and potentially unwanted software. If you do not follow this, I will have to make a complaint to your Internet Service Provider with attached log file (your IP address, etc.). If you want to find a report about your computer's security and solve every problem with it, please click here:
This is an online service that you can use for free spyware removal. Use it to scan your computer to help protect, clean, and keep your computer running at its best. Use the free scan to check for and remove viruses, spyware, and other potentially malicious software and to find vulnerabilities or shortcomings in your Internet security.
Thank you. Yours truly, Cliff Edwards." _________________ The driving instructor http://www.tickettodrive.net |

Thank you for putting this post on the site. We are new to learner talk and have already received about a dozen of these messages although it might be spam I was a little unsure. _________________ BLUE CAR School of Motoring

Thanks for responding to the post and glad it helped someone, I have had several more since I posted the message, all their user names are listed on; http://www.stopforumspam.com/ as spammers.
If you type in a question on google asking about problems with the site they try to direct you to, there are various sites that say they harbour malicious software and try to say you are infected with a virus, then of course they offer to remove it for a fee...Don't go there
Another thing, if you check their profile on this site, they haven't even made any contribution (posts), which raises suspicion in the first place.

Glad it wasn't just me, I sent PM's to Admin but got no reply.
I received the same messages off new members who had only just joined, and never posted, I new it was crap because like you, I run my virus scanner through regularly.
I actually asked for my details to be removed off the forum because I was sick of all the hassle, then sent an email to apologise to admin.
It's no joke is it?? I mean you come on here to either ask questions/help members or just for a bit of a laugh, and you get bombarded with stupid idiots who have nothing better to do than spam.
Maybe the idiots who sent the PM'S would like to take a jump off a long pier. I make NO apologies for my posting.
Sorry I am not amused by the scam at all, pity they havn't anything better to do.
